This typically small St. Paul kitchen was due for a remodel, but the homeowner was also trying to find a way to get a little extra storage. Baileywood found a way to incorporate a cantilever into the plan. A cantilever is an efficient way to pick up extra space; it expands the house footprint while leaving the foundation intact.
Future cantilever location! While the footprint will remain the same, we will gain two feet of cabinet and window depth here.
The remodel will include and over the range convection microwave oven which will exhaust heat and odors to the outside. Commonly, remodels only have a microwave range hood that recirculates the air.
Four unpredictable seasons in Minnesota create storage problems. We will be building a custom bench/storage system to house all necessary seasonal gear.
The north-facing back door allows for little light. We will be replacing this 6 light door with a stained, Douglas fir 10 light solid core door and new handset.
Future home of the new cantilever!
